Detox is an essential first step in recovery, but it’s just that—a beginning. Once the acute symptoms have passed and a person is medically stabilized, the real work of long-term healing begins.
Many people ask us: What should I do after detox? Do I need to go to a treatment center? Will I be okay on my own?
The answer is highly individual. Some clients benefit from entering a residential treatment program right away, especially if they have co-occurring mental health issues or a history of relapse. Others transition into outpatient therapy, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), or structured support through coaching, sober companions, or mutual aid groups.
At Solace Home Detox, we help each client identify what makes sense for them. We offer referrals, help coordinate with therapists and programs, and support ongoing accountability where needed. Our goal is not just to get you through detox, but to make sure you have a plan that sustains your recovery once we step away.
Aftercare may include:
- Therapy or psychiatry
- Sober living or recovery housing
- Outpatient or virtual IOP programs
- Support groups like AA, NA, or SMART Recovery
- Life coaching or case management
The best aftercare plan is one that fits into your life and feels supportive rather than overwhelming. Detox is about clearing space. Aftercare is about filling that space with things that help you grow.
